The Riverside

Recommended by the Good Food Guide 2012, this light and airy restaurant serves delicious, well-crafted, modern dishes. A restaurant, cinema and theatre all in one, look out for the set menu which includes the price of entry to a film. We love the warm bread served with balsamic vinegar and olive oil on arrival.

A family-run pub in a pretty village. The dishes change daily and range from a pork belly sandwich to chargrilled duck hearts or rib of Ketley beef. Eat out on the terrace on a sunny day.

Kesgrave

Milsoms, Kesgrave Hall

Truly mouth-watering food available all day at this marvellous, this 100 seat restaurant is housed within a 4* boutique hotel. The open-plan kitchen allows diners to see exactly what goes on in the kitchen. Head Chef Stuart Oliver champions all that is great about Suffolk produce, and there’s a daily specials board so you’ll find plenty of fresh seasonal produce to choose from.

Neptune Quay is a delightful place to visit during an evening in Ipswich. The Eaterie is a modern brasserie in a converted warehouse hotel by the marina. With a zinc-topped bar, gold pillars, modern art and padded leather booths, this brasserie serves tasty dishes with Mediterranean influences. Dine on the terrace overlooking the marina.

Trongs

The extensive menu at Trongs specialises in vibrant dishes from northern China. It combines the dishes that originated from the imperial kitchens or were created from the wealth of produce of north China, with all the culinary creations which have been distilled and imported from the vast repertoire of dishes from the outlying provinces. Michelin recommends the spring rolls!

Lighthouse

Lighthouse offers Mediterranean cuisine on Aldeburgh High Street. The split-level eatery is popular with locals and visitors, no doubt due in part to the friendly service and laid-back feel. Of course the food is a main draw, with the constantly updated menus featuring fish captured by the local boats 200m away. Flavoursome, rustic dishes in generous portions.

Classed as ‘modern cuisine’ by Michelin, Brudenell offers both double AA rosette winning food and panoramic sea views, in a relaxed, informal setting. Dine outside right on the beach!

Aldeburgh Market Cafe only use the seasonal ingredients available in the adjacent store. Serving wonderful seafood dishes, amongst others, this lovely little establishment is a greengrocer, deli, fishmonger and daytime cafe all in one.

Snape

Crown Inn

An Adnams pub in the nearby village of Snape (5.5 miles), with original oak brick floors, oak beams, and inglenook fireplace. This 15th century former smugglers’ inn raises various animals out the back, which provide most of the meat used in their regional menus.
